Ewing's on the Kern in Kernville

Great meal! We got the Ewing burger and the shrimp salad. Ewing burger was good, really good pulled pork on the burger. The salad was fresh and crisp. The shrimp was grilled perfect with lots of flavor and on the side just how I like it!

We were looking for a place to have Valentine's dinner. We stumbled across the Ewings. It was a Friday night and they were packed. But they seated us at the community table. The service was excellent. The meal was excellent. And we had a live band and they were really great. People were dancing laughing and having a great time. I highly recommend it to anybody else. We will visit again.

It's a beautiful restaurant, lots of character and awesome Kern River views. Very friendly staff. Excellent house margarita. Food is great. The new owners Neal and Amie came over to our table and talked to us. Great experience. Will definitely come here again when in town.

First time going and hands down the best burger I've had in a long time! Billy can cook a darn good burger. Ashley our server was outstanding and the entire experience was perfect.

Gorgeous views and wonderful food! You can't beat the views that this restaurant has. It's a large space and has panoramic windows so you can see the mountains. The food was delicious. Pancakes came hot with lots of butter. Good size portions as well.

It was wonderful to get away from the confinement caused by the Covid 19 virus. The ride thru the canyon to have lunch outside by the River was so freeing! The food was delicious & the weather was windy, but so refreshing!

Food was excellent and service was definitely spot on. You will not be disappointed dinning here. Also a great place to bring your significant other for a nice view with a table by the window. Make a reservation it's worth it!!

Fantastic view of the river is the reason for visiting this restaurant. Overall I would say the food and service are pretty standard. I think it would be really nice if they were more proactive with their weekend brunch menu and weekend can brunch drinks. Can't beat the scenery though it's fantastic!

Ewings on the Kern is ALWAYS great, breakfast, lunch or dinner its always great food & drinks & service with a smile!

Food was great and large portions. Picturesque location with an awesome view of the river and a fun outdoor deck with fireplace. Waited over an hour for our food and the order wasn't complete. Could have just been a busy weekend. Would eat here again - have a glass of wine and watch the sunset over the river.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. Place is very busy. There was great live music. The hostess was most kind to seat us with a view of the Kern River. Our waitress was very friendly and gave such excellent service. They give you fresh warm bread and butter. We ordered a cobb salad - you get a choice of steak or chicken on it and I chose the steak but didn't like it too much, it was tough and not the best quality. We also ordered pork chop but that tasted too salty and it was also tough. Maybe we should have ordered different items, because the food was just ok and it was a little pricey. Overall a nice dining experience because of the beautiful view and great staff.

Best breakfast we had in the area hands down! Everything was A+. I think this is the best restaurant in Kernville and surrounding area. Incredible views of the river. Must visit!

I certainly enjoyed their food and customer service, awesome location right next to my apartment. The employees are always very kind. Would recommend to others.

View is great. The $14 pastrami and fries is so-so. Smallish amount. Friendly service

Definitely one of my favorite restaurants. Their filet mignon is phenomenal - savory and cooked to perfection! Servers are attentive and friendly. Nice, comfortable atmosphere with stunning, magical views!

We enjoy hanging out. Last night we visited this superb restaurant which we didn’t know before. We passed a lovely time there with fine dishes and an experienced team and a talented chief cook. We added this fine restaurant in our list and we shall certainly return soon. Highly recommended.

We absolutely LOVE Ewing’s!! It is by far one of our favorite locations to get a meal on date night. We have been to a wide array of restaurants including a good few in the Bay Area and there’s just something about this little gem in kernville you can’t beat. Food is always amazing, steaks are always perfect atmosphere is always clean and welcoming and the staff is always top notch. I forgot to take photos of the food lol I was to busy eating it 😜

Where do I start? Ill start by Walking towards the restaurant first impression I thought it was going to be Old fashion countryside Dinner, But let me tell you dont get Judge a book by its cover! I was blown away on how elegant it was inside. Okay now for the food omg!!! I was also blown away The Ewing burger Was fantastic 1/2 lb Sirloin steak beef patty with pulled pork meat on top of that And the usual Toppings, Also The Gold rush burger was even bombskiez! #1 selling burger according to the waitress 1/2 lb sirloin beef patty with Smoked pulled rib on top along with regular toppings. Almost forgotten the Cilantro & Hot smoked aioli sauce forgeezy bombskiez!!!

This place is amazing. As far as location it doesn't get better. Dream like views of the mountains overlooking the Kern River, fun, community loving atmosphere, and a beautiful building with a rich history. Customer service is TOP notch! I felt like customer service was dead, but they restored my faith. The food is wonderful! Well thought out menu, with a great selection for the whole family. They don't skimp when it comes to quality. Very well thought out recipes that deliver unique and wonderful tastes even to a sophisticated palate. Highly recommend Ewings on the Kern, they will not disappoint.

My boyfriend took me here on my birthday. We had the best service by Lindsay. The calamari is so yummy. We both had the rib eye's and we were impressed.excellent service, excellent food and a very nice atmosphere. We watched the sunset and we left very full and satisfied.

We loved this place! My husband had the Ewing's bloody Mary and he said it was great. We shared the zucchini planks and the top sirloin dinner. Everything was awesome, cooked perfectly. The service and the view was terrific also. We will definitely be back!

Staff were amazingly friendly. Loved the view of the river. Were seated as quickly as possible( there were a lot of people waiting) but the staff chatted with us and attended to us while we waited by the bar. Food was soo good!

5 stars for the type of place. Rustic lodge type atmosphere. I was there for lunch.Menu not to adventurous, but food was excelent.This place is all about the view. You MUST sit out on the deck overlooking the Kern river.If you are anywhere in area this is a can't miss destination.Update, Nov 2019:Dropping review to 4 stars. Menu has decreased in options. The real reason to go here is view and atmosphere/lodge feeling. Food is good, not great.

I had the seared salmon dinner. My cousin had the filet mignon, medium rare both were cooked PERFECTLY.

Perfect location for lunch with a gorgeous view, the service is too slow but overall the food and experience are good.

The food and service is outstanding, and, dinner and a cocktail is no more expensive than other places here in town. They are awesome and I can't wait to celebrate my wedding there!PS/ wedding was amazing and Ewing's wonderful staff made it so smooth. Awesome!

The food here was amazing. The presentation was beautiful, the textures and flavors were spot on and everything was cooked just right. I had the filet minion, and the seared ahi appetizer. My friend had the sirloin. The view is extraordinary and the staff was efficient and friendly. Highly recommended.

Great food! Enjoyed the pasta and a burger. For some reason they said I couldn't have the burger I ordered due to it being a lunch item but another burger had more on it for same price? Service was overworked due to Whiskey Flats event but resolved an issue in a very friendly manner.

Great place to eat, plus great scenery! Every weekend is the place to go and grab a brisket sandwich!

Gorgeous view of the Kern River, the Bloody Mary and Bloody Maria both good choices and the food is good at a reasonable price. Service was good but for some reason it took our waiter a while to bring us our check.

Gorgeous Restaurant, mouth watering food and amazing views of the Kern River. I was there on Thanksgiving day and snagged one of the last 6pm seatings. Everyone was lovely and it was obviously a family owned restaurant.

Delicious food and beautiful views. Staff was friendly and accommodating of special request. Server was conscious of children and delivered child's food as soon as possible. Other food did take a little while to get out. Appetizers of fried zucchini, calamari, and onion rings were absolutely delicious! Really enjoyed the spicy Burger I had. Cook to order burgers were hit-and-miss across the table, but flavor was still good.

Loved it. View is Awesome for the same price anywhere else really. The food was great and super quick for being decently busy. Will come again every time I'm in town. So relaxing and great customer service.

We've enjoyed eating at Ewings for 60 years. I was there last week after a 10 year break and the place is fabulous. The owner has done a remarkable job renovating and the views of the Kern River are still breathtaking. The caprese salad was tantalizing and fresh, the bartender was friendly and we will be back soon!
